Pilot witness in Seine-et-Marne, France

On October 18, 2014 at around 10:25 PM, a witness (T1) and his wife (T2) are surprised to see an elongated orange shape pass silently over them in less than 4 seconds on a straight trajectory. The object blocked out the stars the witnesses were looking at. Only one questionnaire is collected (T1). The profile drawn by the witness being exactly the profile of an orange paraglider wing, this is the hypothesis considered first. An electric paramotor (the only one that allows an instant climb in case of trouble, engine off) can explain the problem of launching the paraglider, flying distances greater than 1 km, and the silent passage (the engine can be restarted just on final approach during landing). But it remains that a night landing with no moon, with no lighting at all, without going around on final, in a field where there are almost always (potentially) horses (animals often terrified by flying wings) is considered simply suicidal by experienced paraglider pilots. Even if this scenario describes an extremely dangerous, even suicidal situation, no solid argument formally eliminates it and many arguments support it. One cannot speak of certainty because it is very surprising in this scenario that neither the witnesses nor the horses saw or heard the paraglider pilot land perhaps less than 100/200m away. GEIPAN classifies this case as "B": probable observation of the landing of a paraglider, possibly motorized.
