An account in Is�re, France

On September 9, 2015 at 9:30 PM, a witness saw for 3 seconds, above the Belledone mountain range, the movement of a rectangular shape of pale yellow color, marked in its middle by a black stripe. No noise was heard during the movement of this shape on a straight descending trajectory. No change of course was noticed. Only one testimony was collected. The observation site of the UAP is located only 3 km from an extremely active free flight (paragliding) area. The described appearance is compatible with a paraglider that would have made a night flight (aeronautical night begins 30 minutes after the local time of sunset). Night flight (paraglider, hang glider) is regulated. The aircraft must carry two lights (one green and one red). In addition, a night flight must be declared to the prefecture and can only take place three days before or after a full moon. This is not the case here. This night flight was illegal, which explains its lack of regulatory lighting. The 7th Battalion of Alpine Hunters (located in Varces) indicates that there were no military exercises that night. Given the elements, we can conclude that this observation probably concerns an unauthorized civilian paraglider night flight (see the attached investigation report). This testimony is of medium consistency (some discrepancies between the questionnaire data and those collected on site, single testimony) but sufficient in view of the strangeness to classify the case as B: probable misidentification with a paraglider.
