both described an orange orb
Seine-Saint-Denis, France · 2014-06-22 · from the GEIPAN archive
On Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 12:55 AM, a witness, leaving their residence, observed the movement of two bright orange-colored lights in the night sky. The witness followed the silent movements of the phenomena until they disappeared from view. No other testimony was collected. The observation of an orange light crossing the sky in a few minutes, on a weekend night, strongly suggests a sky lantern, probably released nearby at the end of a private party, perhaps on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique. The shape described suggests two adjoining lanterns, possibly tied together. It is noted, however, that the witness's drawing (two orange circles) does not match well a sky lantern seen from below: one should observe a very bright point in the center. The movement was observed from the Northeast toward the West. At Neuilly-sur-Marne (about 2 km away), a very weak, unstable west wind was observed, shifting to the Southeast at 2 AM (see the Météociel data). The wind recorded at Roissy (20 km north of Noisy-le-Grand) was from the Northeast to North and weak (see the Météociel data). The proximity of the Marne River, 600 m away, and the urban environment may explain the change in direction, resulting from variable wind flows. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of Thai sky lanterns.
