An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Essonne, France

On June 13, 2015 at 11:20 PM, several people on a terrace observe in the sky an orange-colored shape moving silently in a straight line. At 12:05 AM, two of the witnesses will again see in the sky the silent movement of an orange shape. Intrigued, they will call the gendarmerie, which dispatches a patrol. Only one testimony is collected on this phenomenon. The observation of orange balls crossing the sky in a few minutes, on a weekend night, clearly suggests Thai lanterns, probably released nearby at the end of a private party. The movement is observed first from the northwest toward the southwest, then from the east toward the west, which is consistent with the slight north wind at 11 PM shifting to northeast around midnight, recorded at Orly (see the Météociel report for the day of the observation for 11 PM and midnight; and that of Sunday, June 14 at 1 AM (Météociel). GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of Thai lanterns.
