On March 7, 2014, between 12:25 a.m. and 12:40 a.m., a person and their young daughter observe a yellow-orange object in the sky, crescent-shaped. The witness has the reflex to take photos.
The photograph presented by the witness is absolutely consistent with the shape the Moon had that day; first quarter at 34%. The Moon was indeed setting, to the West-Northwest (astronomical moonset at 12:40 a.m.). It is surprising that the witness found this sight abnormal, and claimed that the Moon rises and sets on the other side of their house! (Note: the Moon, like the Sun, always rises near the East and always sets near the West). It is perhaps the fear expressed by his young daughter, at that late hour of the night, that moved the witness.
