Red lights in Aisne, France
On July 20, 2013 at midnight, a witness and his wife noticed that the street lamp was off. They then observed the silent passage of a craft with 5 lights underneath, colored red-orange and white, rotating clockwise. Its trajectory was southwest-northeast at low altitude, at a regular and slow speed. The street lamp turned back on when the craft moved away. The observation lasted 10 minutes. Only one testimony was collected. The set of lights described by the witness and the movement suggests an airplane on approach for landing, often quiet. Airplanes have multiple flashing lights (red anticollision lights, flashing white strobes, steady white, green, and red lights). But there is no major airfield nearby. GEIPAN did not process this testimony quickly enough to obtain radar tracks of aircraft flying over this area: this hypothesis cannot be verified. The wind from N to NE recorded on Météociel is opposite to the observed movement: it cannot be an object carried by the wind. The correlation between the street lamps going out and the phenomenon is intriguing, but not confirmed. Lacking very precise elements, apart from the testimony, GEIPAN classifies this case "C" due to lack of information.
