Red lights in Autre, France
On November 2, 2012 at around 11 p.m., three people were intrigued by the passage in the sky, at five-minute intervals, of two balls of red light. These moved slowly toward the sea and disappeared in an upward trajectory. This observation has all the characteristics of Thai lanterns: orange-red lights moving silently at low altitude according to the wind (see Météociel report: light northwest wind), on a weekend evening. The hazy appearance above the lanterns may correspond to vapor emitted by the damp, heated envelope, or to smoke produced by the burner. Although the witness does not validate this hypothesis, the GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of two Thai lanterns.
