An orange orb in La R�union, France
On October 1, 2012 at 7:35 PM, several witnesses observed in the sky the rapid passage of a ball with a white trail that seemed to descend toward the ocean. A general power outage occurred very quickly after the passage of the ball. Only one testimony was collected.
The characteristics of the observation match in every point those of a fireball. The witness experienced a strangeness by associating the observation with the power outage, which was only a coincidence (outages are not rare on the island, and were moreover scheduled that week by EDF).
The fireball could not be confirmed in the records (never exhaustive, especially off the continent), but this is the most likely hypothesis.
