An amateur astronomer was observing the sky in the direction of Mars on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 1:10 a.m. and suddenly noticed the passage of a white trail, then a fireball of orange-red color. The phenomenon then disappeared, hidden by the church roof toward the northwest. A muffled detonation was heard. The next day, despite his searches around his home, no trace on the ground of the phenomenon was found. Given the objective elements defined in the investigation report (namely the shape, color, and behavior of the object; the presence of a white trail and characteristic sounds; the existence of other testimonies and video recordings showing the same phenomenon in the same time slot; and the disappearance of the phenomenon to the northwest, confirmed by one of the video recordings), we can conclude that the phenomenon presents all the characteristics of a bolide (meteoroid fall, commonly called a meteorite), observed from Normandy and the Paris region.
