Recent testimony (12/04/2014) of an old observation. The witness is waiting for the local fireworks when he spots a cylindrical shape with a red light in its center, passing above him, below the low clouds. The witness loses sight of the object while going to get his camera. His son takes over to track the object, which disappears then reappears further away. According to the child, the object disappeared leaving a red trail behind it. Only one testimony was collected. The METEOCIEL report for Blagnac indicates a very cloudy sky and a strong westerly wind: 20 to 30 km/h. The described object has characteristics of Thai lanterns (color, duration, movement speed), but its movement is a priori not consistent with the westerly wind, since it is first observed to the northeast then to the northwest. But it should be noted that the observation is not continuous: it could be two successive, similar objects coming from the west. The hypothesis of a luminous object carried by the wind (Thai lantern) becomes acceptable, and even highly probable if one knows that these releases are very frequent during this New Year's night. The appearance described by the witness is unusual for a Thai lantern, explainable by the fact that the observations were made through a cloud veil. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of Thai lanterns.
