An account in Puy-de-Dôme, France
On the morning of Sunday, July 3, 2011, around 8:30 a.m., the witness, busy at his personal computer, decides to go smoke a cigarette on the terrace of his residence, facing South-Southwest. He then sees 3 white glowing balls in the sky in the South-Southwest direction. Two of them move closer together, and all 3 objects begin moving along a straight trajectory from the Southwest toward the Northwest, with no noise or condensation typical of high-altitude airliners, and with an apparent speed greater than theirs. The witness then interrupts his observation to go get his camcorder, then changes his mind in favor of his cell phone. The phenomenon had disappeared when he returned to the terrace a few moments later, and the witness cannot find it through his windows facing West. The observation lasted about 60 seconds. This case of observing 3 glowing balls crossing part of the sky proves to be of average strangeness because their appearance is similar to balloons; since the wind measured at 7 km is contrary to the observed movement, this hypothesis can neither be retained nor formally excluded. This observation case suffers from too little consistency as it stands: single testimony, no photo, uncertainty about the wind. Without other elements allowing validation or exclusion of any of these hypotheses, GEIPAN classifies this case as "C".
