On June 12, 2011 at 6:36 PM, several people on the beach of Punaaiua Bay (Tahiti) observe the passage of a luminous phenomenon in the sky. A very strong red light moves at high speed, then stops and disappears vertically into the night. Only one testimony is reported, accompanied by photographs. Of average strangeness and good consistency, this case suggests a Thai lantern in many aspects. But, due to the abrupt stop of the phenomenon, this hypothesis is too fragile to be adopted, for lack of being able to know or model the local wind.
