A low hum in Buderim, Sunshine Coast
Low volume; continuous; one level (note); like a truck engine idling; much louder inside house; starts around midnight; stops around 7am. Noticed 1 yr ago when I bought this villa which is in a medium-high density area. Thought I was going mad. Mobile phone/tv tower about 100m away. I was reluctant to be considered a nutcase conspiracy theory person, but felt I had to investigate, but there was no reasonable result. I went outside on 2 occasions, and realised sound was almost gone outside but stayed loud inside. Noticed that power lines all around this area had boxes on them and wondered about them. Tried holding palm of hand on walls several times to feel for vibrations. Friends and family not interested, couldn't hear it, and irritated by my consideration of selling this property after only 1 year here. I became and am still very distressed by it - at least as distressed by "hopelessness" of asking for help from GP. I went to a counsellor to discuss increasing anxiety and depression, but at that time had not related it to insomnia, let alone the hum, and the internal vibration I also feel. Then, only 4 days ago, I typed into Google "Hum Buzz Buderim". No references to "Buderim" (where I live) but I found info about The Hum. The relief to know that I was not going mad is immense. I will try using the overhead fan to mask the sound but doubt it will work. Plan: rent out this villa; get a campervan and bugger off into the sunset to escape this debilitating effect on my life, while I consider what else I can do.
