Low frequency like bass music from a loud car. It is rhythmic and happens intermittently. The sound intensifies when I lay down in bed because it carries through the bed frame. If I go outside I can't hear it any longer. My husband can't hear it at all even if laying down. We are in a very rural area on the Kitsap peninsula with few neighbors. Our home is in a small valley surrounded by mostly coniferous trees and small hills. Our soil is predominantly clay. We live in a 1300 square foot modular "tiny home." We have a forced air furnace. Strangely and annoyingly, I heard a very similar hum intermittently while living at the Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas, Nevada. The sound was also intermittent and rhythmic there as well. However, the frequency of hearing it has greatly increased since living here. I have very sensitive hearing, and I have been tested for tinnitus. I am a mental health therapist and have a masters in clinical psychology. I understand that our brain tries to make "sense" of sounds we find threatening. I am well equipped with relaxation strategies and also utilize white noise for masking. Neither of these strategies are successful. The only thing that helps is using uncomfortable ear phones and listening to low frequency masking and relaxation tones. This bothers me greatly as it interferes with my safety. My husband is a very sound sleeper and uses a cpap machine. He is not easily roused so I would be the only family member to hear any suspicious sounds. I had a strange related experience while living in Las Vegas. I occasionally would hear music while I was home alone sleeping. I blamed it on possible hpynogenic hallucinations or maybe a side effect of my medications for SLE and brushed it off. One day I heard a very clear anomaly that sounded like an instructional video. It was a man's voice describing "survival skills." The "host" of this show identified his name and I quickly jotted it down. I looked his name up and I verified the show did exist on YouTube and neither I nor my husband had ever heard of this show before the incident. We lived about three city blocks across from the general on the base so I assumed he might have a basement and maybe some staffer was bored and watching YouTube videos. I am more than happy to help in any way I can with your research. My email is ajprice0901@gmail.com.
