A low hum in Parkes, new south Wales

Distant idling diesel engine, stops when I yawn or if a sound is made I played an audio 'subwoofer test' online at onlinetonegenerator.com and after I stopped when it got too low hertz I took my earphones out and I could hear the noise even louder, this was on a quiet night at midnight. For the noise to disappear when you make a noise, move, cough etc the problem has to be within the ear. Has there been any scans etc done on the people who hear this hum?
