Like an idling diesel engine at a medium distance I first noticed the sound/vibration when I moved to this house. Before that I had lived in suburban places. If there had been a hum in any of those places I would have attributed it to vehicles or machinery, but here it is extremely quiet, and the sound is 24/7 except for rare occasions when it stops. I wear silicone earplugs to sleep, which cut out almost all sound, but I can still hear the Hum with them in! I am divorced but previously lived hear with my husband (same age as me) who couldn't hear it at all. If I go outside I can't hear it at all. My house is a stone house but I can also hear it in the bathroom which has 2 concrete walls. The first year I was here it made my head throb - not with pain, just pressure. Now, the throbbing has stopped and I usually don't notice the Hum (sometimes I notice when it has stopped, however!)
