On July 24, 1980, two witnesses returning home around 4:30 in the morning saw a very bright white ball in the sky. It emitted an intense light that lit up the countryside. This ball rose and headed north after making a right-angle maneuver. It then stopped moving, and the witnesses were able to observe this phenomenon for an hour despite the intense brightness that hurt their eyes. They went to bed but heard crackling sounds. The photographs taken by one of the witnesses could not be used: the film was declared "burned" by the photographer, who refused to develop it.
