On August 11, 2015 at around 10:05 PM, a witness on their terrace is intrigued by two luminous spots of different colors at low altitude that they see in the clear sky. The lights move silently in a straight line, then accelerate, make a zigzag, resume a straight trajectory, and then disappear. The lights keep the same spacing between them during their movement. The witness adds to their account their GPS position, the exact azimuth of observation, as well as an annotated photograph representing their observation. Only one testimony reached GEIPAN.
Given the elements collected (see the investigation report), namely:
- Absence of data relating to the colors of the PAN.
And although the most plausible hypothesis (confusion with a drone flying at night) could have been retained, we can say that the lack of information does not allow us to conclude definitively in favor of this hypothesis.
GEIPAN classifies this case as "C" as an observation of an unidentified phenomenon as it stands, the lack of cross-checks and elements not allowing a solid opinion to be established.
