An account in Vosges, France

On July 10, 1976, at around 4:30 a.m., a motorist noticed the presence, at low altitude above the road, of a craft ahead of him that he did not recognize. The witness described an object about 4 to 5 meters long and about 1 meter in diameter. Bright red in color, it had a black stripe along its entire length. The upper part seemed to be topped with a cabin with a flashing light. The motorist stopped to look at the device, which seemed to be moving backward as if to come toward the witness. Frightened, the latter immediately resumed his drive. No further information was collected by the gendarmerie.
