An account in Haute-Savoie, France

On Friday, April 24, 2015, between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM, a father and his children were lying on the terrace to look at the starry sky. Suddenly, the father's gaze was drawn to a moving shadow in the sky. The witness perceived "a dark delta-wing-shaped form speeding very quickly toward the south" on a straight trajectory. No particular noise was heard during the 2 to 3 second observation. The witness lost sight of it in the distance, hindered by light pollution. No other testimony was collected. This very brief observation of a dark object may be consistent with the observation of a nocturnal bird of prey (owl, great horned owl) flying over the observer. The witness lives at the edge of a forest, which makes this hypothesis possible. GEIPAN, however, has no elements to support this hypothesis. The witness thinks it was a stealth aircraft: this type of aircraft is stealthy against radar but not particularly silent, and most often flies at high altitude. Due to the lack of cross-checking and the brevity of the testimony, GEIPAN classifies this case in category "C".
