An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Var, France

On February 17, 2012 at around 8:20 a.m., a female driver and her daughter were intrigued by the presence of a white-silver, luminous object in the sky. The light intensity was so strong that it was difficult for the witness to indicate precisely the shape (rather rectangular and fairly flat) and the large size of the object. The observation of the stationary and silent UAP lasted about twenty seconds. In order to maneuver, the witness took her eyes off it for 3 seconds. The witness did not find the object again in the sky. No other testimony was received by GEIPAN on the phenomenon. GEIPAN assigned an investigator to this case: dozens of people were questioned, none confirmed the facts. And yet that morning at 8:30, there were people taking their children to school. The cognitive interview yielded nothing more than the witness's first report. This case of a brief observation, from a car, with no possible cross-checking, proves insufficiently consistent. Given that the witness was driving facing the sun, the observation could come from the reflection of a shiny object in the car's windshield or from the reflection of the sun on a helicopter in flight, but this hypothesis could not be confirmed. For lack of other testimony, or additional elements, GEIPAN classifies this case "C" due to lack of information and cross-checking.
