On March 21, 2014 at around 9 p.m., a witness observes for 2 to 3 minutes three luminous points, equidistant, yellow-orange in color, which move silently in a straight trajectory and which suddenly accelerate before disappearing. The observation of equidistant yellow-orange luminous points, crossing the sky in a few minutes, on a weekend night, clearly suggests Thai lanterns, probably released nearby at the end of a private party. The movement is observed from East to West, which is consistent with the south wind shifting toward the west recorded at Marignane (see the Météociel data for the day of the observation). The perception of acceleration and disappearance is probably the witness's interpretation of the rapid decrease in brightness before the lantern's burner goes out.
