An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Alpes-Maritimes, France

On November 26, 2009 at around 10:45 PM, two people are surprised to see in the clear sky the silent passage of about a dozen square-shaped objects with a central white light. The observation lasted about a minute and a half. Only one testimony was collected on October 13, 2014. The observation of luminous objects crossing the sky in a few minutes suggests Thai lanterns, probably released nearby at the end of a private party. The unusual shape described by the witness (square, with a central light point, and two wings) may be an interpretation of the barrel shape of classic Thai lanterns, or may be the actual shape of particular lanterns. The movement is observed from West to East, which is consistent with the Northwest wind recorded by weather reports in Nice. GEIPAN classifies this case "B" probable observation of Thai lanterns.
