An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Haute-Garonne, France

On June 24, 2014 at 8:40 a.m., a female driver taking her son to school was intrigued by two objects shaped like "boats," gray in color and stationary side by side in the sky. She could not explain what she was seeing to her son. The two objects eventually left slowly. On the way back, at 9:08 a.m., she spotted at the same location a third object that took the same direction as the others, that is, the NE. What the witness describes as "things shaped like boats" most likely results from kites. The attached reconstruction positions on the satellite photo the locations of the witness's 4 observations (reconstructed). These observations from different angles: - make it possible to locate the approximate area of the position of the UAPs - show a profile aspect (observation 1 transverse to the measured wind) and a front or rear aspect (observation 3 along the measured wind) of the UAPs, which makes them perfectly consistent with an observation of kites in profile and front-facing positions relative to the wind. Although the witness (contacted by phone 2 years later) refutes this hypothesis, it remains for GEIPAN the most likely hypothesis, because of the elements described and also because GEIPAN was able to gather indications about kite flying in a leisure area just upstream (relative to the wind direction, see position in the reconstruction). It may have been users of the area who, exceptionally (area inaccessible that day?), decided to practice further downstream in the field (the UAPs) or just upstream of that field, so that the witness saw the kites (on one side of the road) without noticing the kite pilots (on the other side of the road). Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as B: observation of kites.
