On Thursday, July 11, 2013, around 11:45 PM, a witness is intrigued by the silent passage of several luminous phenomena on the horizon. The rectangular objects with rounded edges move from North to South on a straight trajectory. Due to the linear movement of the objects, GEIPAN considered objects carried by the wind, temporarily hidden by trees (see the animation produced by the witness). The Météociel report indicates a NE wind that roughly matches the observed movement (the witness may not perceive the East-to-West movement, which is a slight approach from his point of view). Jaunay-Clan is adjacent to the Futuroscope park, where many nighttime events are held in summer, but this park is not in the witness's field of vision. That evening (July 11) marks the opening of the summer evenings in Jaunay-Clan, which could have given rise to festivities. But the direction of origin of the lights rather suggests a release on the banks of the Clain north of Jaunay-Clan. The description of the phenomenon evokes the observation of Thai lanterns, white or red. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of Thai lanterns.
