both described an orange orb
Ille-et-Vilaine, France · 2013-07-17 · from the GEIPAN archive
On July 17, 2013 at approximately 11:45 PM, a witness observed the passage of a fireball followed by a trail on an oblique descending trajectory. The description of a "fireball" lasting 2 to 3 seconds corresponds perfectly to a bolide (atmospheric entry of a meteoroid). The witness saw it to the East, moving from North to South. There was no recording by automatic cameras, but another similar testimony was received at GEIPAN, at a declared time very close: in Plaisir (78), observed to the Southwest-West, moving toward the horizon (from 60° elevation to 45°). The undulation noted may be a physiological illusion of vision called: autokinetic illusion (see: kinetic illusion). It is recalled that these bolide phenomena, often perceived by witnesses as very close, actually occur at an altitude of 100 to 50 km, and are therefore visible from the ground over an area of about 200 km in diameter. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of a bolide.
