One person testifies late (statement of April 14, 2011) about an observation made between 2:40 PM and 3:10 PM at the beginning of November 2010 (the 2nd or 8th or 9th or 10th of November 2010). While walking with his dog on a country road, a witness is fascinated for about ten seconds by an object he cannot identify. Flying about 2.5 meters above the ground, a blue object moves at a steady speed along a straight trajectory. The witness describes a cubic shape and two white circles on each side connected to each other by light beams. The object crosses the road in front of the witness and suddenly disappears near a tree. No trace of the object in the tree's branches is found by the witness. No other testimony will be collected about this phenomenon and no particular trace will be found at the scene by the gendarmerie, which was informed late. The hypothesis considered in the IPN investigation of a remotely piloted flying object or a quadcopter-type drone could match the description. These devices are multiplying, are sold everywhere, at all prices, in all sizes and all colors (some can be piloted by an iPhone). The characteristics of "blur" around the body ("cube with rounded corners") described by the witness could match the rotation of the associated blades, the witness's visual acuity not allowing him to distinguish the details of an object, nor to properly judge distances. This observation presents a low degree of strangeness, without a precise observation date. The majority of the described characteristics match those of known objects (remote-controlled object, drone...). This case is classified as B, as the probable observation of a remotely piloted object (toy, drone).
