On 26 August 2010, two people observe, above their home at around 9:20 PM, an object in flames that suddenly breaks apart into 4 distinct pieces. Just before catching fire, it had a straight trajectory in a North-South direction and oscillated vertically. No noise is heard during the movement or the breakup of the object. The police report as well as an administrative information supplement are received at GEIPAN on 15 November 2010. The follow-up investigation carried out shows that the witness probably observed a Thai lantern from a preliminary test prior to a large release of Thai lanterns that was to take place during a village festival for the weekend of 28 to 29 August 2010.
