An account in Seine-Maritime, France

A hunter observes on 31 August 2009 around 5 a.m. the passage of a cylindrical shape of orange color in the sky. Observed with binoculars, the witness describes a uniform and bright color, almost fluorescent. First motionless, the object begins to rise in a pendulum movement, for about ten minutes. Then it comes back down the same way before disappearing. The scene takes place over the English Channel several kilometers from the coast. Several hypotheses were considered (flare rockets, flare, boat, helicopter, airplane) but none fits. This rather strange observation would merit a field investigation: but the GEIPAN was unable to contact the witness; moreover, more than 3 years after the facts, verifications would be risky. This case is classified C for lack of information.
