On July 6, 2007 at around one in the morning, a motorist and his wife witnessed a vaporous luminous phenomenon, white-bluish in color and shaped like an oval "ring," moving silently and slightly tilted in the cloudy sky. On the outside of the ring, the witnesses also saw several luminous circles. The phenomenon seemed to follow the vehicle, which frightened the witnesses, between the Remiremont (88) exit and Dinozé (88). When they arrived home, the witnesses continued to observe the phenomenon. The intermittent observation lasted about 35 minutes over a little more than twenty kilometers. The appearance of the UAP described by the witnesses is very close to images projected onto the cloud base by a sky tracer (multi-beam laser projector). The investigation showed (see the investigation report) on the one hand that the nightclub in Épinal had such equipment at the time of the observation, and on the other hand that the visibility and behavior of the UAP are compatible with the testimonies. Let us add that in 2007, the laser projector operated on Thursdays in addition to Friday and Saturday nights. In 2015 it is still possible to verify the explanatory hypothesis on the nights from Thursday to Friday, Friday to Saturday, and Saturday to Sunday starting at 11 PM in cloudy weather. It is notably thanks to the quality of the witnesses' memories and the notes taken at the time of the events by the witness, as well as the meticulous reconstruction carried out by the investigators, that this case can be classified as A: misidentification with a sky tracer (laser projector).
