An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Cantal, France

On January 4, 1990, in the courtyard of a middle school around 12:40 p.m., about ten children observed a black oval shape (or cylindrical, depending on the testimonies), described with "legs" and "portholes." The object passed silently about 150 meters above the school. The teachers, alerted, had noticed nothing. On January 16, in a neighboring town, a weather balloon launched from Bordeaux was discovered. Reconstructing the balloon's shape from the debris made it possible to identify the sighting as this balloon, the "legs" being in fact the lower part of the radar reflector.
