A distant car or truck engine constantly running at slow speed; or a distant electric motor, say a heat pump or similar. Not able to sense the direction of the source of the noise. I think I have a low frequency form of tinnitus. Sometimes the hum is a mower or car a few blocks away; or the neighbours heat pump; or a stump remover - but those can be identified.
