A low hum in Canada, British Columbia
It sounds like a huge engine running at an even tempo. We moved into this house on a 100+ acre ranch in August of 2013. I don't recall exactly when I started hearing the sound, but I never heard it before moving here. Several times I've been convinced the sound must be coming from somewhere inside the house and have walked around looking for the source but have been unable to find anything to explain it. Wondered (tongue in cheek) if it was the engine of Earth itself, far below ground that I heard, or if it was somehow related to the fact that the butte the town is named after is a 6-million-year-old volcanic plug. Never realized that other people heard the hum, too.
