Low slightly pulsing rumble, like a huge engine at idle. Similar to a plane before takeoff or a helicopter without the chopping. The Hum is not stressful or frightening to me. I use it to anchor myself when attempting to drift into lucid dreaming. I like to think of it as the sound the Earth makes. I hear it come from the windows, and I believe it is an external noise.
