A low hum in United States, Amarillo

a low, rumbling sound, like a train engine idlying The hum does not bother me. It does not disturb my sleep. But, it is very, very persistent. We live in a town that is a major train depot, with lines from the north & south intersecting with lines that run east and west. For years, I thought that the hum was the sound of train engines idlying in the train yard. One night, I drove to a close proximity to the trains, so see if the sound would increase. It did not. I am the only one in my house who hears it.
