An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Maritime, France

On June 21, 1979 at 10:25 PM local time, several sailors on a French Navy vessel in the Ionian Sea (lat 38°02N and long 17°41E) saw a luminous phenomenon at 15° above the horizon. A bright point that was growing in size suddenly split into three luminous parts whose intensity gradually decreased. The colors changed from white to orange and then back to white. The observed trajectory was southwest to east. The phenomenon, moving at high speed, was observed for one minute. These people were probably witnesses to an atmospheric reentry.
