An account in Marne, France
This observation case, classified "C" by GEPAN, is now part of a re-examination (see the document Investigation Notes). On February 5, 1977, between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, two people in Reims (51) observed, looking West, a luminous ball seeming motionless in the sky. No noise was heard during the observation of this phenomenon, which had completely disappeared around 9:45 PM. This case has little substance (two witnesses, but with brief testimonies), the description of the observed UAP is fairly precise. The sincerity and credibility of the witnesses have never been questioned. The described phenomenon presents many common characteristics (observation duration, shape, size, color) with a perfectly known astronomical object: the planet Venus. Moreover, Venus was indeed present in the area of sky observed, with particularly remarkable brightness. It is not the witnesses' visual perception that is in question, but the interpretation the witnesses make of their observation through their feelings (fatigue, nighttime observation). In the current GEIPAN classification, this case of low strangeness is classified "A", observation linked to a misidentification with Venus.
On August 23 and 25, 1980, at around 3:30 in the morning, a witness observed from his home, on the 4th floor, a very bright luminous point positioned at the same spot in the sky. The witness…
