Recent 2016 testimony of an old observation (uncertain date). On December 28, 1978, between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., three people observe for 20 to 30 minutes a luminous point moving in the sky along an irregular and angular trajectory. Changes of direction are perceived and seem random. The witnesses leave the terrace while the UAP is still moving. Only one testimony is collected. The description could match an aircraft (civilian or not) actually making an unusual trajectory, which cannot be ruled out (we have no means to investigate aeronautical traffic that old), but also a satellite. Indeed, GEIPAN has experience with strangeness caused by satellites whose trajectory would not be straight. The strangeness is due either to perception effects (see the article on the autokinetic effect) for the zigzags, or to the coincidence of a trajectory at the end of solar illumination with another trajectory at the beginning of illumination, giving the impression of a single satellite with a sharp change in trajectory. The age of the observation, the lack of tools and databases going back to that time prevent concluding in this case. Consequently, GEIPAN classifies it as C: lack of information.
