An account in Finistre, France

On October 28, 2015 at 4:30 in the morning, a witness is intrigued by the presence to the southeast in the sky of two very bright white points. During the observation lasting about thirty minutes, no particular noise is heard. The two points move little on a straight upward trajectory. The witness takes three photographs. Clouds will then hide the two bright points. No other testimony has been collected. The witness's indications correspond to the configuration of Venus and Jupiter that night, one above the other with a few degrees of separation, around an elevation of 10° (Venus below, brighter, as shown by the witness's photo and the Stellarium reconstruction). The only point of discrepancy concerned the observation azimuth, but contact with the witness made it possible to confirm (based on local geographical landmarks) that he was indeed looking east. Likewise, the elevation was estimated at around 30° while the photo shows it at around 10°. Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as A: observation of a conjunction of celestial bodies (Venus and Jupiter).
