An account in Haut-Rhin, France

On July 5, 2015 at 10:30 PM, a witness observes, through their picture window, a yellow luminous point coming in their direction. They then go out onto their terrace and see the object veer off while blinking rapidly, before disappearing at high speed. The witness films their observation: in it, one can see streetlights in the distance and the luminous point in motion. No other testimony was collected. This powerful yellow light (see photo), in which blinking is observed (see video), moving slowly low on the horizon, evokes an airplane preparing to land. The apparent disappearance of the phenomenon corresponds to the change of course of the airplane, which is then no longer facing the witness. In this configuration, an airplane is visible at more than 20 km. The witness is located 20 km from the Basel Mulhouse airport, which has heavy traffic, and 10 km from the Mulhouse-Habsheim recreational airfield. GEIPAN did not process this case quickly enough to be able to determine which airplane might have been involved in this observation.
