On June 6, 1976, at around 11:35 PM, a motorist observed for a few seconds the fall at constant speed of a luminous phenomenon and its explosion. No noise was heard. Thinking it was an aircraft accident, this witness informed the gendarmerie. The investigation would show that no aircraft had been reported missing. No other testimony would be collected about this phenomenon. The motorist was probably a witness to an atmospheric re-entry.
