An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Yvelines, France

On March 9, 2014 at 7:50 PM, a witness from their home observes for a few seconds the passage of a faintly luminous phenomenon followed by a long white trail in the sky. This observation of a luminous ball followed by a trail, crossing the sky in a straight line in 2 or 3 seconds, has all the characteristics of a bolide (see this term: bolide). The amateur network of automatic cameras BOAM (see BOAM Network) did not record this phenomenon, perhaps not bright enough. However, two bolide recordings are noted on the same evening, at 9:03 PM and 11:28 PM, by cameras located in eastern France. GEIPAN received a direct testimony of an observation made in Saint-André-de-Cubzac (33), near Bordeaux, on the same day between 7:30 PM and 7:45 PM that may correspond to this phenomenon: the directions of movement of the phenomenon are compatible but the reported observation times do not coincide exactly. Lacking confirmations, this case is for now classified "B": probable observation of a bolide. Overall, numerous bolide observations are noted in February and March.
