An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Morbihan, France

On Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 6:45 p.m., several people in a car were intrigued by the sight of a phenomenon in the sky that they could not explain. The witness, in a car, describes a spherical silver shape becoming an elongated bright white shape, apparently motionless, then splitting in two and disappearing. The radar data (see diagram) clearly shows the high-altitude aircraft (black track) that the witness describes, and also, at low altitude (therefore without a contrail), an aircraft moving away from the witness (red track). The aircraft, moving away from the witness almost along the line of sight, appeared motionless. When the aircraft changed direction at 6:50 p.m. (see top right of the diagram, heading change to the left from 6:48 to 6:51), the reflection changed and disappeared, suggesting the disappearance of the object itself. (Note: the times shown along the aircraft tracks are in Universal Time). The witness's first intuition: a reflection of the sun on an aircraft, turns out to be the correct explanation. GEIPAN classifies this case "A": perfectly explained by the reflection of the sun on an aircraft.
