On Friday, July 26, 2013, around 11 p.m., a witness observes toward the South an orange ball, which will disappear toward the East, then he makes another similar observation 15 minutes later. The witness reports the Moon visible in the background on a photo: but at 11 p.m., the Moon has not yet risen, moreover, it is only 3/4 full (rising in the East around 11:15 p.m.). The gray circle in the photo is more likely the reflection of the camera flash on a speck of dust. The photos provided to GEIPAN are not in the format of the original photos. The wind recorded by Meteociel at Cambrai is very weak, oscillating around the North direction during the evening. The description given by the witness is compatible with the observation of two Thai lanterns released less than a kilometer South of the witness: the very weak wind will have barely moved the lantern away, which will have gone out after a few minutes.
