An account in Is�re, France

On July 26, 2012 at 10:20 PM, a witness on their balcony was intrigued by the rapid and silent passage of a faintly luminous and vaporous ball in the clear sky. During the object's south-to-north movement, the witness noted luminous points below the object as well as several small trailing jets at the rear. The observation lasted 6 seconds before the object was hidden by the roof of the house. No other testimony was reported. We are dealing with a case of a phenomenon moving in a straight line, so of average strangeness a priori, but the completely unusual appearance of the phenomenon makes it stranger. There is a relatively large number of hypotheses to consider, because the phenomenon approaches various causes (see investigation report), but none fits well. The consistency of the case is good, with a high-quality testimony, very precise, well documented, written by the witness immediately after the observation ended. But this remains a single testimony, without photo or video. GEIPAN, having been unable to confirm any of the hypotheses considered, classifies this case as "D1" as unexplained.
