An account in Gard, France

On May 18, 2012 between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM, two people were intrigued by a phenomenon in the clear sky. One of the witnesses filmed the movement of an object that occasionally lit up in the sky. The video document, of mediocre quality, does not allow for use in any possible measurements of the object's dimensions, distance, and speed. Given the objective elements collected, namely the presence of an airfield dedicated to gliding nearby, gliders covered in white paint favoring the reflection of sunlight, the object's movement consistent with that of a glider flying in thermal flight, and weather conditions favorable to gliding, we can conclude that the object observed by the witnesses was probably a glider coming from the Avignon-Pujaut airfield, performing spirals in thermal flight, and whose wings and/or fuselage intermittently reflected the sun's light rays. This case is to be classified as "B" as a probable observation of a glider maneuvering near the Avignon-Pujaut airfield, its component parts reflecting sunlight intermittently.
