An account in Meurthe-et-Moselle, France

On November 16, 2010 at 6:40 a.m., a motorist observes for two to three minutes in the sky at a significant distance (several kilometers) a fixed and luminous phenomenon shaped like a saucer, whose rim is lined with about thirty white and green lights. He gets out of his vehicle to take a photo with his mobile phone, but the sensitivity is insufficient. He puts his phone away and, looking up in the direction of the UAP, it has disappeared. No other testimony will be collected. The strangeness of this observation case depends mainly on the interpretation the witness made of the observed phenomenon: if one takes into account the description of the UAP in the shape of a saucer, the strangeness becomes very significant; if one considers that the object was too distant for this interpretation to be relevant, the strangeness of the case becomes low and leaves the door open to a simple hypothesis of confusion with a star (this confusion is frequent for stars or planets observed low on the horizon). On the other hand, this case is of medium to even low consistency due to the imprecision of position and direction of observation, and the absence of a photo. GEIPAN classifies this case as C due to lack of cross-checking.
