An account in Bouches-du-Rh�ne, France

A witness reports two observations made from his kitchen on the 9th floor facing northwest. On February 4, 2009 at 2:45 a.m., the witness observes the unusual movements of colored shapes that quickly disappear at the horizon. On February 8, 2009 at 6:45 a.m., the witness and his son note the upward then downward movement of an orange-red sphere. The first UAP observed, orange-red in color, crosses the witness's field of vision from southeast to northwest, i.e., in the direction of the wind: a festive lantern (called a "Thai lantern") can possibly explain this observation. The second UAP observed appears exactly in the direction of the Moon, which was not mentioned by the witness. The red and changing appearance would have confused the witness at that late hour of the night. For the main observation (UAP no. 2), GEIPAN classifies the case as "A": observation of the Moon at its setting, partially obscured by clouds. For the other observations, these would be classified as "C" due to lack of information.
