An open record of things people cannot explain

An account in Nord, France

On July 8, 2017 at around 11:45 PM, a witness and his wife were intrigued by the movement along a single trajectory of two orange-colored discs in the clear sky. Several other discs of the same color appeared. All seemed to come from the East (Gondecourt) and all headed toward the Southwest (Ostricourt). No noise was heard during the observation. The witness took five photos that were not submitted. Only one testimony was collected. The description (colors and shapes) is consistent with a flight of Thai lanterns. At low altitude and directly overhead, the lanterns can appear as discs. The wind that evening there, according to Infoclimat, was from NNE to SSW. It could therefore cause this trajectory seen from the ground (described as coming from the North and going to the SW). It was a weekend, and moreover summer: so it was a favorable time for festive events and releases of Thai lanterns into the night sky. GEIPAN classifies this case as B: Thai lanterns.
