An orange orb in Aveyron, France

On March 16, 1999, at around 8 p.m., a witness observed the very rapid passage of two aerial phenomena made up of a small orange ball and a ball of sparks. The trajectory of the two balls was straight, but one of the two seemed to dive into the valley before climbing back up in altitude. The phenomenon remained perfectly silent and lasted only a few seconds. The trajectory of one of the two phenomena rules out, a priori, the hypothesis of an atmospheric re-entry. The proximity of military installations also did not allow the phenomenon to be identified, and it remains unexplained.
